Skill Will
Painting shed and digging ditches for good causes… these are great things but the charities really want a commercial relationship with the organisations that the volunteers work for. Many companies don’t really know how to unlock the charity value of their staff’s time. We do and went about creating a huge skills-based programme to really close the value gap in professional volunteering. And it worked.
Skill Will is a programme whereby local business people are encouraged to donate their time, services, resources and expertise on a pro bono basis. Do what you’re good at. For free. We match these with the needs of regional good causes and charities. 18 months from inception and we’d facilitated the donation of over £1,500,000 of in-kind giving. No charge. No taxpayer funds. Happy charities. Better end-user service provision. More personally fulfilled professional staff. Win Win Win. Those in-kind donations came supercharged with good intentions from the businesses; along with the hope of warm and long lasting relationships. Our aim was to embed businesses deeply into the operational structure of charities and good causes and strip out some of the operating costs allowing for the good causes to focus more of their fundraising successes on service provision. Many of those relationships have continued for years. Mission accomplished.
We stopped counting the commercial benefit a long time ago. We were the first to “Skill Will” and we still do it today. iSource Group has itself donated over £300,000 of event space and sponsorship to good causes as well as donate our event expertise to augment the fundraising capability of a number of charities.
Ho Ho Homeless
In November 2015 our CEO met a homeless man on a bridge in Leeds. That exchange led to a direct intervention that saw “Kevin” housed, reunited with his family and eventually in self- employment. Always thinking bigger… Ho Ho Homleess was set up as a seasonal and cold weather support programme to help our rough sleepers and homeless communities get through the cold winter months. Working directly with on the ground agencies, Ho Ho Homeless now provides winter gift packs, sleeping bags, hats, coats, scarves and so on to support over 1100 people each year: rough sleepers, the homeless and young people at risk of rough sleeping. We got off to a good start by smashing our target on GoFundME.

No Limits
We’ve sky dived, climbed Kilimanjaro, crossed the Sahara, rowed Lake Windermere, ran marathons, cycled to Paris (twice) and so on… and we’ll carry on doing that kind of thing. We’ve raised well in-excess of £100,000 of cash by spraining ankles, twisting knees, and getting blisters. Our preference however is to directly impact the commercial prospects of a charity or good cause and where we can, run as straight a line as possible from fundraising directly to end-user benefit.
